Early greyscale shot of Pluto from New Horizons.

Pluto’s mountains and plains.

Charon, illuminated by Pluto. A photograph sent from New Horizons, courtesy of NASA. It’ll be a very long time before we get any other close pictures of Pluto, most likely; new science is more likely to be had studying other Kuiper Belt objects and comparing them to what New Horizons sent back from Pluto and its later destinations. (The next is on January 1st, 2019. Set your alarms for it, and then for, like, a year later when the transmissions of its findings are finally done being uploaded to mission control. ^_^)
